Kunio Takata has been creating mokume-gane for 20 years.
Carrying on techniques from the Edo period, he continues to craft each traditional mokume-gane piece with its own unique expression, using the same production method that has remained unchanged for over 400 years.
Based on the belief that a piece is only complete when the customer is fully satisfied, he offers a full refund if you are not completely happy.

Rare Due to Forging Method
Unlike mass-produced products, Kunio Takata’s mokume-gane can only be made using specialized tools that have been in use since the founding of the workshop, and only by skilled artisans who can handle them. As a result, the number of mokume-gane pieces that can be produced annually is limited, making each one highly rare. His mokume-gane series is created using a traditional forging method rarely seen elsewhere: heating solid metal until red-hot, stacking multiple layers of metal plates, and repeatedly hammering, stretching, and shaping them.
