Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1. What is Mokume Gane?

A. Mokume Gane is a traditional Japanese metalworking technique in which layers of different metals are fused together using heat and pressure, then carved or polished to reveal natural woodgrain-like patterns. No two patterns are ever exactly the same, making each piece truly unique.

Q2. Why do you limit production to 20 orders per month?

A. Each Mokume Gane piece is handcrafted from start to finish by a single artisan, following techniques passed down since the Edo period. Due to the time and precision required, we limit the number of pieces we produce each month.

Q3. How long does it take to receive my order?

A. It typically takes around two months from the time of order to delivery. As each item is made entirely by hand, the timeline may vary slightly.

Q4. What is the price range?

A. The starting price for a single Mokume Gane ring is approximately ¥300,000. We also offer exclusive coupons for use at our workshop—please contact us for more details.

Q5. Can you make a size 1 ring for my pinky finger?

A. Yes, we can. Mokume Gane rings are available in small sizes, including size 1.

Q6. My husband’s finger is large—can you make a size 29 ring?

A. Yes, we can. Many of our clients with larger fingers choose enishi’s Mokume Gane rings.

Q7. Can you engrave both of our family crests on the ring?

A. Yes, we offer engraving services for family crests, which are a popular request among our clients.

Q8. If the inner side of the ring is also Mokume Gane, can you still engrave on it?

A. Yes, engraving is possible even on Mokume Gane surfaces.

Q9. My husband prefers a flat ring, but I like a wave-shaped design. Can we order different styles?

A. Absolutely. Many of our customers choose different ring styles to reflect their individual preferences.

Q10. What kind of aftercare do you offer?

A. We offer lifetime free cleaning for all enishi Mokume Gane rings.

Q11. I live in Hokkaido. Can I order via email or phone?

A. Yes, you can. We work with many clients from distant locations, including overseas. However, please note that all finished pieces must be picked up within Japan.
